Stewardship

OUR DISCIPLESHIP WITHIN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Ever wonder how our commitment to our Church impacts our local community?

Last year during our Stewardship Campaign we discussed how the money we give to the church supports ministries as we celebrated how we are learning and growing in Jesus Christ to serve others and transform lives HERE, ACROSS THE STREET and AROUND THE WORLD. This year we are going to focus our attention on the “HERE” aspect of that mission statement.

Our gifts to the church help provide Christian education opportunities for children, youth and adults such as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  They provide safe and welcoming facilities for various organizations, like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, AA and NA as they meet the needs of the community.  In addition our gifts provide support -- financial, material and hands-on -- to many organizations that meet the needs of our brothers and sisters within our community.  These organizations include, but are not limited to, the Welcome One shelter, Alpha’s Glory, local elementary schools, the Emergency Rotating Shelter and Habitat for Humanity.

Thank you for your generosity that makes all this possible. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks about our Stewardship Emphasis, Our Discipleship in Today’s World, and prayerfully consider how God has blessed you and how God can do more through us in 2018.

In Acts 1:8 it is recorded that Jesus instructed his disciples to be his witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.  Each of us is charged and challenged with that role in today’s modern world.

Each week we will present a brief Stewardship Moment, highlighting ministry areas that impact our local community.  Additionally, you will be able to view these presentations on the Church’s web site at www.hdgumc.org.

Enclosed is an Estimate of Giving card that contains a place for you to indicate your planned financial support for calendar year 2018.  Please know this information is closely held by only three or four people within the Finance and Stewardship Team. Additionally, there is a place on the card for you to indicate ministries about which you would like to learn more and in which you might like to participate.  On the back is an area for you to update information such as your address, email and phone number.  When completing the card please indicate your name (and envelope number if you have one) in the space provided on the front.  Please return the card on or before Commitment Sunday, November 26, 2017 by dropping it in the Offering Plate or returning it by mail.

Thank you for your commitment to Christ’s ministry through Havre de Grace United Methodist Church.
