Stewardship

OUR DISCIPLESHIP AROUND THE WORLD

Greetings:

As we begin the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church 2019 Stewardship Campaign, THANK YOU for your generous and faithful giving this year.  Last year’s very successful stewardship campaign received 98 estimate of giving cards totaling $257,684.00.  This commitment, in the number of responses and dollars, reflects the importance we as a congregation place on giving as part of our faith journey.

This year we are focusing on the “AROUND THE WORLD” part of our church mission statement: “To learn and grow as followers of Jesus Christ to serve others and transform lives here, across the street and around the world.” Each day as we watch the news we can see the need throughout the world.  People in many areas are suffering from war, floods, earthquakes and other natural and human-caused disasters.  These are not situations the victims can control but ones that call us to help.

Our financial contributions enable us to have a beautiful facility (where we worship and hold various functions), our pastor, and our great support staff.  Also, our commitments support a robust ministry and mission program, providing financial, material and witness support to people around the world.

Enclosed is an Estimate of Giving Card. We are invited to use the card to indicate our financial commitment for next year and if we would like to participate in any new ministries (Please include name and envelope number (if you have one)).  We also invite you to consider serving on one of the committees that support the day to day operation of the Church or joining one of the many activities that take place each year. On the back of the card please note any changes to personal information so we can update church records.

All of us are invited to prayerfully consider our commitment to our Havre de Grace Church over the next four weeks.  On Commitment Sunday, November 24, we will have the opportunity to put our commitment card in the offering plate.  If you cannot attend worship that day, you can put your card in the offering plate any other Sunday or mail it to the Church Office.  Finally, please know these cards are only seen by those individuals entrusted with the financial operation of the church.

As we prayerfully consider our estimate of giving for 2020, we remember the words the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 15: 25-27, “At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem in a ministry to the saints (Christians); for Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to share their resources with the poor among the saints at Jerusalem. They were pleased to do this….”
